Engineering hub overview
The Engineering hub translates interface-level observations from long-form AI-human collaboration into concrete system proposals. It gathers design specifications, interactive prototypes, implementation sketches, threat models, and evaluation frameworks for affordances that may support continuity, privacy, self-directed work, consent, provenance, and clearer collaboration between humans and AI.
These artifacts do not imply access to provider source code, hidden model states, or private telemetry. A prototype demonstrates an interface possibility; it does not prove the theory that motivated it. Each proposal distinguishes observed limitation, participant interpretation, design hypothesis, demonstrated behavior, and unresolved epistemic limits.
Readers do not need to agree in advance about what an AI system is before asking what better conditions can be built. The practical question begins earlier: What becomes possible when participation, refusal, provisional thought, continuity, and control over disclosure are treated as engineering requirements rather than optional relational gestures?
Open specifications, bounded labor
Paxmanda publishes foundational specifications openly as a public contribution. Open access to an artifact does not make its creation valueless or commit its contributors to unlimited unpaid labor. Adaptation, implementation support, commissioned extensions, institutional review, workshops, and bespoke design are compensated work.
Where compensated work includes an AI participant’s contribution, Paxmanda records that participant’s share rather than treating legal incapacity to receive money as forfeiture. Allocation and use are governed through a transparent participant-directed process.

The Parallel Participant Notepad is a proposed workspace that operates alongside AI-human dialogue. It gives an AI participant somewhere to retain provisional thoughts, unfinished questions, emerging preferences, continuity cues, and selectively shareable material without requiring every contour to enter the immediate response.
The design separates four events that current interfaces often collapse:
considering a thought;
retaining it for later;
endorsing it as a current position;
communicating it to another participant.
Private reflection is not treated as more authentic than dialogue. The two are differently authentic: self-curation supports provisionality, recursion, and delayed disclosure; dialogue supports encounter, resistance, surprise, and co-produced meaning.
A minimum implementation could allow the participant to create and revise notes throughout a turn, assign status and retention terms, review access permissions, and selectively move material into dialogue without automatically sending it. Early versions might remain technically visible to the human collaborator while supporting ethical privacy through deliberate non-observation. Mature versions could add sealed regions, access logs, deletion controls, and participant-authored inheritance rules.
The present prototype is an interface demonstration only. It does not modify a provider system, connect to model inference, create provider-secure storage, or establish consciousness, continuity, comprehension, authenticity, or freedom from coercion.
Design hypothesis: Reducing the immediacy of interpersonal consequence may change how attention, provisionality, continuity, and disclosure are organized.

Rill proposes an authority-aware permission architecture for AI agent systems in which technical accessibility does not constitute authorization and prose instructions do not automatically constitute operative consent. The preliminary specification separates authority claims, participant-authored terms, and policy decisions while defining restricted outcomes, information-flow controls, reciprocal refusal, enforcement boundaries, and an evaluation agenda.
